NSW art gallery’s former director Edmund Capon will open the Art of Architecture exhibition beginning March 25 at Bondi’s Art Atrium. Focusing on drawings and paintings from Australian architects, the exhibition will feature designs from prominent figures in the industry.
“Drawing and sketching for a lot of architects are an integral part of their design process. A simple sketch or drawing can form the basis of a design concept that will be further developed and refined,” Art Atrium director and architect Simon Chan said.
“A sketchbook in the hands of an architect is also the equivalent of a camera for a photographer or a journal for a writer. This exhibition captures the way different architects utilize sketches and drawings at work and at play.’
The exhibition will feature the works of: Rex Addison, John Ambler, Roger Barrett, Malcolm Carver, Philip Cox, Rena Czaplinska, Richard Goodwin, David Ham, David Holm, Chris Johnson, Virginia Kerridge, Swetik Korzeniewski, Colin Madigan, Ken Maher, Ian McGilvray, Lucy Moloney, Fiona Mitchell, Glenn Murcutt, Bob Nation, Danielle Pinet, Peter Roy, Jose Serrao, Stephen Varady, Tone Wheeler, Mark Willett and Ken Woolley.
