A total of 81 projects from throughout Australia and New Zealand have been selected as finalists in the 2013 Eat-Drink-Design Awards.

The annual awards recognise design innovation and excellence in hospitality premises of all scales and types, food and beverage retail environments, and visual identities for both across the six categories. The Eat-Drink-Design Awards are the only awards program dedicated to this specialist area in Australasia.

The six categories include Best Bar Design, Best Restaurant Design, Best Cafe Design, Best Temporary Design, Best Retail Design and Best Visual Identity Design.

Additionally, a prestigious Hall of Fame accolade will be presented to recognise the enduring innovation and excellence in the design of a hospitality venue of more than 20 years. Recipients are assessed on design innovation for the time, creative leadership, technical advancement and the project’s national significance as a hospitality venue.

Judges include Christine Manfield, chef and restaurateur; John Birmingham, author and food writer; Rachel Hurst, design writer; Domenic Alvaro, architect; and Cameron Bruhn, design media.

Winners will be announced at the 2013 Eat-Drink-Design Awards ceremony on 12 November in Melbourne.
