The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has official ruled Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s One World Trade Centre as the tallest building in the United States. The decision comes after a long debate questioned whether or not the tower’s 408 foot spire should count towards its overall height.

Facebook is taking its friendship with Frank Gehry across the Atlantic, reportedly signing the Los Angeles architect to work on new office space in Dublin, Ireland. He will also design new office space for Facebook in London.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates 

Arabtec Construction has won an AED1.8 billion contract for the Atkins-designed, 369.1m-high Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai’s Central Business District. Located only one block from the world’s tallest tower, the new skyscraper will take its position as one of the top ten tallest buildings in Dubai.

San Francisco, United States

Architecture firms Living in Flux, Catalyst SF, Prime Cut, Tetris Block, Folium, and NZ+ Beyond Net Zero Energy have won an ideas competition to create a zero net energy building in one of San Francisco's poorer neighborhoods. The firms submitted plans for a mixed-use building as part of the 2013 Architecture at Zero competition.

A consortium led by New York-based Diller Scofidio + Renfro has been announced as the winning team in a competition to design a major new park in Moscow. The competition brief requested architecture and landscaping design concepts for a contemporary park and high quality, year-round infrastructure for the city.
