The International Vegan Interior Design Association (IVIDA) is a groundbreaking movement that aims to reshape the interior design industry by bringing together interior designers, suppliers, and businesses committed to ethical, sustainable and health-supporting design practices.
The group is calling for a clearer understanding and adherence to the term ‘vegan’ within the interior design industry – voluntarily, if not by law. Given the current lack of transparency in labelling materials and products as ‘vegan’, IVIDA is advocating for a clear definition that ensures that a vegan product contains no animal ingredients and that neither the finished product nor any of the ingredients have been tested on animals.
IVIDA advocates for interior design solutions that respect nature’s ecosystems, promote human health and prioritise animal welfare by moving the industry away from a reliance on fossil fuels, toxic chemicals and animal-derived materials, inspiring a new era of conscious interior design.
Founded in May 2024, IVIDA made its public debut during World Vegan Month in November 2024, introducing 26 founding members from 9 different countries across 4 continents. This global profile of the organisation ensures that the values of vegan interior design are celebrated universally, fostering a truly international community.
“As a vegan interior designer in Australia, I’m proud to have IVIDA’s members from diverse regions working together toward a common goal,” says Aline Duerr, founder of IVIDA. “Our vision is to celebrate the universal values of vegan interior design and amplify our collective voice for ethical and sustainable practices.”
Membership to IVIDA is free for vegan designers worldwide.
