Ryan Russell is shortlisted for 2 Fish (Vic).THE Australian Interior Design Awards, now on its seventh year, has announced the shortlisted entries for its 2010 Awards program. There were 179 projects were shortlisted with more designers choosing to enter their projects across multiple categories.

The Residential Design category was most popular with designers and had the greatest number of entries, followed closely by Corporate Design. The largest comparative spike in 2010 entries was in the category of Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD), which increased by 107 per cent.

BVN Architecture is shortlisted for The Academy (Vic).“For the first time there appears to be a greater coherence between designer, client and legislation. While designers have always pushed the envelope on ESD, it seems that clients are beginning to understand the real value of sustainability in the long term,” said Francesco Bonato, the Design Institute of Australia appointed jury convenor.

The winners and finalists of the 2010 Australian Interior Design Awards will be announced at a dinner on 23 April 2010 at Sydney Town Hall.
