ASPECT Studios, FJMT, ARUP, Hyder Consulting and Lend Lease have received an Australia Award for Urban Design in the Delivered Outcome-Large Scale category for the transformation of the Darling Quarter.
The jury said that the redevelopment was an innovative creation of a ‘vibrant and dynamic mix of commercial and public space with grassed community areas, a children’s theatre, retail terrace and a large illuminated water playground.’

The Awards were hosted by the Planning Institute of Australia in Canberra and featured other three other categories.
The Parramatta riverfront won the National Urban Design Award in the category for Policies Programs and Concepts - small scale.
Last year saw Parramatta council ask landscape architecture firm McGregor Coxall to prepare a plan to help ''position the city as the driving force and heart of Australia's most significant economic region''. Image via McGregor Coxall
The jury praised the concept for the way it opened up new lifestyle and economic opportunities with the blending of river front green space and a strong activated urban edge.
The Future of Penrith, Penrith of the Future project took out the award for Policies, Programs and Concepts - large scale category.
PIA National President Dyan Currie said:
"The concept re-connects Penrith to the river, proposing environmental initiatives that might be supported by the private market creating economic opportunities."
The Brisbane Riverfront Project has won the Delivered Outcome - small scale category for River Quay. The project had input from input from Arkhefield Architects and Interior Design and Cardno S.P.L.A.T Landscape Architects.
