This new mobile holiday home, designed by architect Axel Enthoven, bears an unmistakable resemblance to the famous sails of Jorn Utzon’s Sydney Opera House.
It’s a far cry from camping as well. Called Opera, the nomadic home comes with its own wine cabinet, warm-air heating, espresso bar and an enclosed teak veranda.
The first Operas are being made completely by hand in Geldrop in the Netherlands, using hardwood, stainless steel and leather.
The structure opens and levels itself by electric power — inside 5 minutes and without tent pegs, stabilizer jacks and loose tent poles — what you see is a residence measuring 7 metres long, more than 3 metres wide and 3.5 metres high.
There are two electrically adjustable beds, hot and cold water, a ceramic toilet, LED lighting, and a mobile hob and barbecue.
The Opera will be presented for the first time at the Design at Work trade fair in the Belgian city of Kortrijk in December.
