Australian design teams have more than 50 projects shortlisted in the 2012 World Architecture Festival Awards (WAF).
Large firms Hassell and BVN alone have five and 10 projects projects respectively in the running in what is said to be the largest architectural awards programme in the world.
The shortlisted entrants have to present to panels of juries at the Awards, which will again be a focal point of the World Architecture Festival (WAF) that this year will be held in Singapore from 3 to 5 October.
One of the shortlisted projects, the Concourse building designed by FJMT
Previous entrants have ranged from renowned global architectural firms to small local practices. All entrants go head-to-head as equals in presenting their designs on a global stage.
The interactive format involves shortlisted entrants presenting their projects live to international judging panels and Festival delegates.
The 54 member international judging panel includes highly regarded Australians Kerry Hill, Michael Heenan, Chris Bosse, Dominic Alvaro, Richard Hassell, Donald Bates and Timothy Moore.
