Brandon Gien, executive director of the Australian International Design Awards, has been re-elected to the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) Executive Board.

Gien said he was thrilled to be serving this prestigious world design organisation for a further term.

“Now, more than ever before, design must be placed at the epicentre of business and industry as our financial, environmental and social economies of the world are reshaped and realigned,” Gien said.

“The greatest task ahead is to ensure that design, and the value it brings when used effectively, is properly positioned and promoted as ‘part’ of the solution for the world’s many and varied challenges. The World Design Congress was a powerful indicator that creative problem solving and design thinking will be one of the key factors in helping to shape our world for the better.”

“I hope that through my appointment to the Board of Icsid I can further promote the important role of design and serve to strengthen Australia’s position in what is fast becoming a respected and valued profession in our rapidly changing world,” he said.
