A national and international search is underway for the world’s best in urban planning, urban design and architecture professions to help shape Barangaroo, through the design of Barangaroo’s 5.2 hectare central precinct.
On Thursday 30 August 2012, the Barangaroo Delivery Authority will release a Request for Proposals (RFP) to seek an experienced and highly qualified team to provide master planning services for Barangaroo Central.
“This is a rare opportunity for the future of Sydney. What is eventually designed at Barangaroo Central will shape how people experience Barangaroo in the future,” CEO of the Authority, John Tabart said.
“On the western edge of Sydney’s CBD, Barangaroo is a 22 hectare former container port, being transformed into a vital new extension of the city, as a new global financial hub and the spectacular Headland Park,” Mr Tabart said.
“Playing a pivotal role between these two icons, is Barangaroo Central, planned to be a stimulating new place with commercial and cultural development, creating spaces for living work and leisure,” he said.
“We are looking for a world class team, with the skills and experience to collaborate with the Authority to provide master planning services that achieve the vision and objectives for Barangaroo Central,” he said.
The successful team will provide the following services:
- A Conceptual Vision for the Central Master Plan
- Revised Concept Plan pertaining to Central
- The Central Master Plan
- Land Use planning framework and Staging Land release plan
- Public domain plan and whole of site integration
- Built form Master Planning considerations
The Request for Proposal documentation will be available from Thursday 30 August 2012 at www.barangaroo.nsw.gov.au/centralrfp.aspx or www.tenders.nsw.gov.au.
Submissions will close at 2pm on Wednesday 26 September 2012. Following lodgement the Authority will conduct detailed assessment and evaluation of proposals, with appointment of the master planning team targeted in time to commence work in the first quarter of 2013.
