Bendigo in Victoria is launching a multi-million dollar bid to lure the Davis Cup to town and has already engaged an architect and prepared early concept plans.

The Bendigo Tennis Association (BTA) is working with the council with hopes to develop an international tennis facility.

The council has engaged an architect to assess the complex and three concepts have been devised.

The Bendigo Advertiser reports that the city has $50,000 of funding allocated to the further development of concept plans of the BTA. It is hoped a regionally significant venue, close to Melbourne, will attract events from the capital city.
