Up against some against top American, English and European architects, BVN was commended by the jury. The Australian studio was competing against top American, English and European architects.

BVN’s vision for the Olympic park centred on a dynamic concourse, and included an urban plan for 2046 with a zero-carbon footprint goal and creating a sense of community and social participation through neighbourhood gardens and increased walkable spaces.

It was designed with sustainable transport modes such as light rail and bicycles in mind.

“Being commended at this international level of competition is a tremendous confidence booster for Australian architects,” said James Grose, BVN Architecture national director.

“For some time now Australian architecture has been defined on the world stage by its derivation from the unique landscape. As global culture becomes more prominent, Australian design is equal to any in the world,’ said Grose.
