DTAC Haute Couture Edging can be adapted for all joinery situations.AT the age of 35, Dean Homicki has built up a successful business where design, compliance, form, function, safety and decoration successfully blend together.

Homicki is the dot man — his company DTAC are world leaders in tactile ground indicators. Homicki has elevated the humble dot into an artful and indispensable aspect of urban design. “We are the George Jensen of tactiles,” says Homicki. “Once you notice the dots, you see them everywhere; the dots are essential information for the visually impaired. The dots that we see in regimental rows at the top and bottom of ramps and stairs in commercial spaces make a safer environment in public spaces.”

“Think of them like Braille for the floor,” explains Homicki. His company DTAC has taken a mandatory product that is quite ugly and made it beautiful. DTAC’s dots are available in an abundance of colours and are prevalent throughout many of Australia’s important public buildings.

DTAC Edging is a new fashion in detail finishing for floors.Melbourne’s Federation Square has 200,000 dots; they are ubiquitous through the Melbourne Recital Centre and will soon be apparent in the new MONA museum designed by Fender Katsilidis. Being both aesthetic and durable, DTAC dots are the architect’s choice and now Homicki is developing a new range of floor finishing, evolving from dots to lines.

Edging is a new fashion in detail finishing for floors. The DTAC Edging is a bespoke slender metal shelf that is moulded to the top of stairs, table tops and cabinetry. The DTAC Edging series provides a practical and individual approach to the protection of exposed edges and tricky finishing sections.

The DTAC Haute Couture Edging can be adapted for all joinery situations and options include suede, checker, pinstripe, corduroy, pleat or hounds tooth. These five exclusive Edging collections can be customised for each specific project (for example, with monograms or brands).

All DTAC Edging details are designed and manufactured in Australia with local and imported materials.
