The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has appointed Adam Beck to the role of state manager for Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Beck moves from the Arup sustainability team in Brisbane to take over the role from Andrew Aitken, who will be focusing on his new role of director — green star, which involves managing the technical team responsible for Green Star tool development.

Adam is a Green Star Accredited Professional and has worked on several projects seeking Green Star certification. He has been a member of the Green Star Faculty team for several years, during which time he has presented the Green Star Accredited Professional course.

Beck worked as a consultant to Brisbane Airport Corporation, writing Australia’s first airport environment strategy. He was also involved in facilitating community consultation for Brisbane’s award winning CityShape project.

Beck has been an executive member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand for 10 years, holding roles including senior vice president and more recently chair of policy.
