In a special free public lecture in Melbourne on March 27, Dan Hill will explore how we can create better cities and communities by redesigning our cultures of decision-making.
Based in the UK, Dan Hill has been a leader in information and communication technologies since the early 1990s.
From his current position with Helsinki Design Lab, Hill explores the possibilities of urban informatics from a creative, design-led perspective, re-thinking how real-time information networks change streets and cities, neighbourhoods and organisations, mobility and work, play and public space.
Known as a design visionary, Hill played a strategic role in re-thinking the BBC for the on-demand age, creating the iPlayer and introducing podcasting, amongst numerous other innovative services. He co-founded the global media product, Monocle, and is one of the organisers of the acclaimed architecture and urbanism event, Postopolis!
Hill is also an adjunct Professor in the Architecture Department at the University Technology, Sydney (UTS) and international commentator on architecture, urbanism, design, media and music through his website, City of Sound.
