Peter Conley and Associates are the architects behind a new apartment block ‘Ocean’ in Narrabeen which has received a rare seven-star rating from the BERS (Building Energy Rating Scheme).
The three-storey block is beach fronted and holds 32 apartments featuring aluminium louvers as well as 40,000-litre rainwater harvesting tank.
The roof is fully insulated whilst energy-saving lighting and hot water systems have been used throughout.
The apartments are designed so that they draw in cool sea breezes into each apartment and flush out hotter air through westerly-placed windows and doors.
Ocean is broken into separate elements with five individual lobbies and lifts, each servicing a maximum of just three apartments per floor.
“We are discerning with what we build and where we choose to build,” said Davin Finn of CABE, which specialises in ecologically-sustainable developments that integrate with the landscape.
The interior fit-out contains Miele kitchen appliances, Australian timber floors, coloured splashbacks and frameless glass screens in the showers.
There are currently nine apartments still for sale ranging between $1.5-M up to $2.65-M.
