Robert Peck AM, founding Principal of peckvonhartel, has decided to step down from his position as National President of the Association of Consulting Architects Australia (ACA), an organisation he helped establish.

Peck was a member of the founding committee who launched the association in 1985; he was elected to the role of President and has held the position continuously for 27 years. The ACA will farewell Robert from his role at a dinner on Thursday 19 July.

The Association of Consulting Architects is a federated organisation with branches in all states.

The ACA represents the interests of all architects in private practice throughout Australia; particularly with industrial matters, employment processes, and other initiatives relating to the business of architecture.

According to peckvonhartel, the organisation has been crucial in providing support to Australian architects who wish to establish their own consulting practice. The services provided by the ACA allows architectural consultants to be as little distracted as possible from their primary role of providing well considered designs.

Peck has over 40 years experience in the architectural profession and in the building industry and has been involved in the design and delivery of iconic projects such as No.1 Collins Street and 333 Collins Street Melbourne, the Westin Hotel Melbourne, One National Circuit Canberra, and The National Museum of Australia.

In 1997, he was awarded an Order of Australia for ‘services to the Practice of Architecture, Urban Design and Development particularly through statutory and regulatory authorities.' Peck is a Life Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.

A highly involved figure in the Australian property industry, he has been elected to numerous advisory group positions throughout his career; including Chairman of the National Building and Construction Council and Board Member of the Property Council of Australia. He is also a founding Director of Japara Aged Care and is currently Chair at Ivvy, an event and booking software business.

Marten Peck, Principal of peckvonhartel said:

“We are extremely grateful to Robert for the outstanding contribution he has made to the Profession of Architecture in Australia. His success in establishing a professional framework to support architectural Practices more effectively deliver design services, will no doubt be felt by both future generations of Architects and indeed future generations of Australians.”
