These fantastic sculptures by artist Peter Jansen capture the total shape of human movement in a single frame.

The fifty-three-year-old Dutch artist sculpts the path of runners, gymnasts, football players and karate experts as they move.

Studying physics and philosophy at university propelled Jansen to explore transposition and movement in his work. Computer modelling was uncommon when he started exploring movement through sculpture so his work began with simple outline sculptures. Now he generates models on the screen before creating a cast.

Jansen works in bronze, sometimes adding a chrome layer.
