Suters Architects has appointed Leone Lorrimer as its new CEO, the architect returning to Australia from a design manager role in Abu Dhabi where she worked on prestigious projects for Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry and Lord Norman Foster.
Based in Suters' Sydney office, Lorrimer commenced the new role on 20 February.
Internationally recognised for her 25 years experience in architecture and real estate development, Lorrimer has worked across Australia, UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, China, Vietnam, Malaysia and the UK.
She takes on the Suters CEO position after recently returning to Australia from Abu Dhabi where she held the position of Senior Design Manager at Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC).
Her Design Manager role at TDIC included three iconic museums on Saadiyat Island: The Louvre Abu Dhabi (Jean Nouvel), Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (Frank Gehry) and Zayed National Museum (Lord Norman Foster).

Before her time in the Middle East, Lorrimer spent two decades as a Director of Australia’s second largest architectural practice.
“I am honoured to be working with Suters Architects, a firm of quiet achievers whose outstanding design is a product of their excellent client relationships,” Lorrimer said.
Outgoing CEO Robert Macindoe says that the new appointment is another milestone in the evolution of Suters and its people.
“As Suters enters its 54th year, Leone Lorrimer brings a wealth of leadership and design management experience that will further strengthen and steer the company through this new phase,” he said.
“I look forward to introducing Leone to our remarkable team before moving back into project work.”
One of Australia’s largest design firms, Suters Architects ranked 5th top firm in Australasia in the World Architecture Top 100, and has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and Cairns.
Lorrimer comments: “2012 has already kicked off with two substantial new projects: the $150 million Gold Coast University Private Hospital and Palmerston Community Hospital with MKEA Architects in Darwin.
“From this solid base, I look forward to bringing an international perspective, fresh ideas and national leadership as Suters continues to grow and diversify.”
