Visitors to Hotel, Hospitality + Design 2011 in Sydney this week were treated to a sneak preview of the hotel room of the future.

The idea of designers, John Beazley and Co, was to present cutting edge developments in hotel room technology, electronics, bathroom fixtures and furnishings together as a real-sized, fully functional hotel room on the show floor.

The tour starts with the latest MyStayManager smartphone technology that allows guests to reserve, check-in and manage their in-room dining and spa requirements via their mobile phone.

Developer, Micros Fidelio launched the futuristic hotel mobile technology system for the first time in Australia at the expo.

Once inside the room, guests were able to control all aspects of room ambience with Suite Control’s Control4 device which controls lighting, airconditioning, opening and closing of curtains and a host of other applications with the tap of a finger. The OneVision IPTV allows guest to access hotel information, in-room dining and the entertainment systems, among other features.

The display also featured the AH Beard bed with ergomotion articulating base — technology which can be adjusted to satisfy various requirements in sleep.

Fittings by Apaiser included the the Lunar bath and pool basins. Featured using the duo-tone colour technology, these fittings can be customized in design and taste.

Other features on display included a kinesis gym fitted to the wall that folds out in minutes to transform the hotel room into a gym and back again.
