Cairns Regional Council has called for Expressions of Interest from firms to lead the design at the Cairns Entertainment Precinct, which it says is its most ‘significant development undertaken’.

Located on a 1.5ha site fronting Wharf Street Cairns, the Precinct will include:

  • A proscenium arch theatre of approximately 1100 seats, studio
  • rehearsal space; commercial kitchen; associated back of house
  • foyers
  • covered external public plaza
  • refurbishment of the heritage-listed White's Shed and car parking.

The $154.6m project is fully funded through the commitments of the Commonwealth and State Governments, as funding partners, with Council.

Expressions of Interest are invited from highly-qualified consultant project management firms to lead the design development and development application phases, and to take the project through construction and commissioning, as the principal’s representative, from June 2012 to completion in mid 2015.

The consultant Project Manager will work closely with the client and design teams, and the managing contractor, to deliver the project within budget.

The demonstrated ability to work closely with community stakeholders is essential.
