Virgin Airlines Australia has opened its first business lounge at the Gold Coast Airport designed by architect Tim Greer from Sydney based Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.

Greer used organic wood elements as the main feature in the reception area which leads to an open plan, contemporary design.

The space is two storeys and 680 sqm and seats around 140 guests. It is on the mezzanine level adjacent to the entrance of gates one and two.

Guests can book an on-site private meeting room and internet is free and Virgin Australia’s general manager for product, Alison Chalmer told Australian Business Traveller that the Gold Coast is becoming a key business destination

"The local council is driving infrastructure to support business and helping lure companies such as IBM, the National Broadband Network and Vizy,” said Chalmers.

“Our ‘game change’ program is around diversifying our market and in addition to growing the corporate market here, the Gold Coast is also a premium leisure destination.”

Chef Luke Mangan has designed the buffet which is available which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks and an all day barista.

The lounge will be available to guests who are lounge members, lifetime lounge members, Silver Velocity members with entry passes, Gold, Platinum Velocity Members and Business Class fare holders.
