Woodhead has received the highest score to date awarded to any Australian office interiors project for their design at Fujitsu's Victorian head office.
The firm achieved a 6 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia for the 6,050 sqm project. It was awarded the Office Interiors v1.1 Certified Rating and achieved a Green Star Score of 85 - an Australian record.
Fujitsu worked with Woodhead and Umow Lai Engineers on the project, which is located in The Gauge at Melbourne's Docklands.
"Deploying a sustainability strategy throughout our facilities at Fujitsu reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint in all areas of our business," said Greg Fawcett, general manager facilities at Fujitsu Australia. "In alignment with Fujitsu's Sustainability Consulting practice which reduces an organisation's carbon footprint through their IT infrastructures, we too will notice a marked reduction in our energy bills from implementing a Green office."
All of the floors in the new fitout have been planned so that staff members are situated at the perimeter of the space, where daylight and views are prominent. The internal shared spaces complement the exposed structure of the building as well as the day to day working environment of its users.
The sixth level reception features Fujitsu's infinity logo embossed into a curved timber wall, with interactive LCD screens used as a promotional tool upon entering the space. This level also features a 'bio-wall' - a representation of Fujitsu's environmental commitment.
