Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk expressed his appreciation for the Lotus
Mansion development in Shanghai, which was showcased to Australian delegates at
an event organised as part of the 2014 Lord Mayor’s Business Mission.
The Business Mission aims to promote investment opportunities in
Brisbane and generate business growth with Australia’s export partner regions
in Asia. The Shanghai leg of the mission was hosted by Place Design Group and
Capitaland at their Lotus Mansion development.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said it was an honour to view the
prestigious development as it brought together two great companies, Capitaland
and Place Design Group, both originating outside of China, in Singapore and
Australia respectively, and successfully building their reach into Shanghai and
greater China.
The Brisbane-based Place Design Group was established in 2001, and
created a name for itself in the China market in the same year. Operating
through a network of four offices and over 100 staff across China, the company
has accomplished a breadth of work encompassing residential mixed use, hotels
and resorts. Place Design Group has built a strong reputation as one of
Australia’s boutique business export successes, taking out the Australia China
Business Excellence Awards for Construction and Design earlier this year and
recently being named finalist for Business in Asia in the Lord Mayor Business
Awards.
Place Design Group Managing Director Shaun Munday commented that their focus
has always been to synthesise the best of both business cultures from Australia
and China, a strategy that has successfully paid off for the company. He added
that hosting the Lord Mayor at one of their own projects in Shanghai not only
provided a great opportunity to showcase their work but also enabled them to
introduce their partner, Capitaland.
One of Asia’s largest developers, Capitaland is headquartered in
Singapore and completes 20 years in business this year with their portfolio
extending throughout Asia from private homes through to large scale shopping
malls and residential communities.
Having worked with Capitaland in Shenzhen, the Lotus Mansion is the
first Capitaland project for Place Design Group’s Shanghai team. A ‘boutique’
residential and commercial development, the project spans three hectares with
398 residential apartments, and is expected to be completed by 2015.
