Sydney Anchor Points announces that changes have been made to the code
of practice for ‘Managing the Risk of Falls in the Workplace’ by Safe Work
Australia.
It is important for installers fixing anchor points and fall arrest
systems to strictly comply with the Australian Work Health and Safety Act. The
latest amendment has been made to a diagram illustrating example calculations
used to ensure the correct operation of a fall arrest system; these
calculations were originally wrong.
When it comes to managing the risk of falls using fall prevention
devices and fall arrest systems, it is critically important to check that all
calculations are completely accurate because even a small miscalculation in
height safety systems could lead to injury or worse.
For any job that involves working at heights, ensure the installer of roof
anchors is qualified and complies with AS/NZS1891.4 standards for the
installation. They should also arrange to certify the anchor points every 12
months.
