BLOOM, a striking pendant light is the first product to be launched from
the new Jan Flook Lighting Collection.
An award-winning industrial designer based in Melbourne, Australia, who
trained in Florence, Milan and New Zealand, Jan Flook is well known and
respected in the Australian design community. The new BLOOM pendant features a
rounded powder-coated white aluminium shade with yellow silk orchids cascading
from the interior. Ideal for hotel lobby desks or café counters, the BLOOM has
a tapering two-tiered form that bounces the light around the interior of the
shade.
Flook’s lighting collection also includes chandeliers, industrial-style
wall lights and pendants, dramatic feature lights and quirky one-offs made from
recycled materials. Jan Flook is excited about the launch of his collection
internationally.
A UK-born New Zealander, Jan Flook set up his studio in Victoria in 2008
after four years in the Alpha Romeo and Design Continuum teams in Milan. Since
then, Flook has been working with a range of distinguished architects, interior
designers and private clients on bespoke feature lights for projects such as
Melbourne’s fashionable Atlantic restaurant.
Conrad Manolidis, director of Blackmilk who designed the interior of the
restaurant said that they have collaborated with Jan Flook on a number of
projects, and are impressed with his accuracy during the design and
manufacturing process.
Flook has won scholarships and awards in Australia, Japan and
Italy, including the Pratt Foundation award, the Art in Public Spaces
Award, the Distinguished Furniture Award and the International Luminaire
Design Award. He also represented New Zealand in the United Nations Recycling
Symposium in Paris.
New pieces will be launched from the Jan Flook
Lighting Collection in the coming months.
