Refrigerated transport company Cannon Logistics relies on their high
performance fleet to stay ahead in their business.
Cannon Logistics delivers perishable foods for approximately 90 clients
all over Queensland including retail supermarkets, shipping providers, food
service distributors, produce growers and mining towns in the outer regions of
the state. Aware of the importance of establishing strong ties within the
industry to the survival of the company during the crucial start-up phase, Zac
Popov, Managing Director of Cannon Logistics managed to steer around many of
the common trip-up points by partnering with a small number of knowledgeable
key suppliers.
One key partner in the Cannon success story is temperature-controlled
trailer manufacturer, Maxi-CUBE, which has played a leading role in building the
transporter’s fleet of 11 single refrigerated vans, all purchased from
Maxi-CUBE’s Queensland dealership, Trailer Sales. Each van is 48 feet (14.6
metres) in length and has the capacity to maintain a temperature of -23°C while
being used for multi-pickups and deliveries.
Recently, Zac added two more 48-foot vans to bring Cannon’s total fleet to
13 units. He explains that pricing is always a factor when purchasing, but one
of the biggest reasons he keeps going back to Maxi-CUBE is the attention to
detail when it comes to thermal efficiency and the van’s ability to withstand
the hits and bumps of Queensland’s rough roads.
Since taking delivery of the first Maxi-CUBE refrigerated van, Cannon
has not had a single vehicle off the road other than for routine servicing.
Trailer Sales’ Scott Thiesfield took Zac’s challenge to help them take Cannon’s
business to the next level by introducing him to a range of new features,
including Maxi-CUBE’s flat distribution floor with ‘Maxi-GRIP’ finish and a
Dual Evaporators (dual temperature) setup.
Maxi-CUBE’s Maxi-GRIP floor, which is pivotal for refrigeration fleets,
reduces the risk of injury due to wet or slippery floors and is suitable for
using both pallet jacks and forklifts. The Dual Evaporators enable the cool
temperatures to be equally distributed to all corners of the van allowing for
the stock to maintain its freshness at all times even when the doors are open
during delivery.
After inspecting the new design, Zac was happy with the added safety of the
Maxi-GRIP floor and was particularly impressed with the extra peace of mind
provided by the Dual Evaporators. He observed that the new design alleviates the
possibility of damaged goods and keeps the vans on the road.
