As INSIDE 2013 draws close, its judges have diligently whittled down the entries to a shortlist of 59 projects across this year’s 12 diverse categories: Bars and Restaurants, Creative Re-use, Culture, Display, Education, Health, Hotels, Offices, Residential, Shopping Centres, Shops and Transport.

Celebrating the most inspired and accomplished interiors of the last year, the short list includes 15 Australian projects, including Fat Noodle by Luchetti Krelle, an eatery in Brisbane that is inspired by the heritage of the cuisines on offer, international law firm Allens Linklaters by BVN Donovan Hill, and Crumpler Prahran by Russell & George, a retail store that doubles up as a ‘light cage’.

These 15 Australian projects join a variety of entrants from around the world, such as Anglo-Japanese architects Klein Dytham, which entered the Google Japan headquarters in Tokyo, and Singapore-based architecture practice WOHA’s Park Royal on Pickering – a striking high-rise hotel and office building with contours that form planted valleys, gullies and waterfalls.

The shortlisted entries will pitch against each other in live presentations during the festival over a period of three days to an international panel comprising Odile Decq (ODBC); Nigel Coates (Nigel Coates Studio), Lyndon Neri (Neri & Hu) and more.

On the final day of the festival, the 12 category winners will be put forward for the World Interior of the Year Award 2013, which is considered to be the grand prix of interior awards.

All category winners will also be invited to be a member of INSIDE’s international jury in 2014 and be featured in filmed interviews hosted by INSIDE’s digital partner Dezeen.

INSIDE is the sister event to WAF (World Architecture Festival), an international festival and live awards competition dedicated to celebrating and sharing architectural excellence.
