Trade your tape measure for your smartphone thanks to the RoomScan app that can draw up room dimensions based on tapping your phone to the surrounding walls.

Using a motion sensor, RoomScan records measurement data every time it is held up and touched to a surface.

From this data, the position, orientation and distance of each wall are calculated to draw up an accurate floor plan.

The ‘pro’ version of the app allows you to input your own figures into the floor plan afterwards to specify exact distances and adjust any inaccuracies.

Multiple rooms, doors and windows can also be incorporated using the RoomScan pro.

The app is currently only compatible with Apple devices that have motion sensors in them and requires that they be running iOS 7 or higher.
