A Denmark apartment complex modelled on floating icebergs and a Chilean cereal factory with a wave roof form have beaten two Australian projects to category prizes in the 2015 ArchDaily Building of the Year Awards.
The Iceberg apartments, designed by CEBRA + JDS + SeARCH + Louis Paillard Architects, was awarded the Housing category prize in the completely peer-voted awards program, pipping Sydney’s One Central Park by Ateliers Jean Nouvel and PTW architects in the process.
The Carozzi Production and Research Food Center by GH+A | Guillermo Hevia architects in Santiago Chile also received the most votes in its category, the Industrial category, which also featured Australia’s Lune de Sang Sheds project from northern NSW by CHROFI architects.
PTW and CHROFI were the only two Australian firms that were named among 68 finalists back in January, narrowed from a total of 3,000 international projects. Over 18,000 votes were received for the awards.
