The City of Marion, Adelaide, has announced that the public will get a chance to Speed Date a Sustainability Expert on 24 August at the Marion Cultural Centre.

The free event, held by the not-for-profit Alternative Technology Association (ATA) and the City of Marion, will allow people who are renovating or building to discuss environmental options for their home with South Australia’s leading sustainable designers and architects.

Participants will get thirteen minutes per ‘date’ to speak with experts in a relaxed, no-obligations environment. Renovation or building plans on laptop, tablet or as hard copy are allowed during the 'dates'.

The speed dating session will be preceded by a seminar and Q&A session with experts on sustainable home design, solar power and solar hot water.

ATA chief executive Donna Luckman says that Speed Date a Sustainability Expert is a good opportunity for people to learn how to make their homes more comfortable and save money while lessening their environmental footprint.

"Adelaide has some of Australia's most creative and thoughtful green architects and designers. This event will give people a chance to speak directly with them for free,” says Luckman.

The session is the centrepiece of this year’s Marion Learning Festival, an annual event that seeks to boost community learning with workshops and stage demonstrations.

The Sustainability seminar will take place from 11am to 12.30pm, and the Speed Date a Sustainability Expert event from 2pm to 4pm. Both will be held at the Marion Cultural Centre, 287 Diagonal Road, Oaklands Park, Adelaide.

Registrations are essential for the speed dating session. To register, please visit www.sdsd.ata.org.au/adelaide.
