Sydney Design Festival has officially opened the floor to expressions of interest for the 2018 program. Submissions are now being sought from a range of creative disciplines – from architecture to interiors to industrial design to graphic design – to be considered for presentation at next year’s festival.
Submissions should respond to the theme ‘Call to Action’ and engage with current issues. They should also explore design practice, collaboration, conversation and current design trends.
“Action is purpose and movement; [a]ction is deliberate and forward-thinking,” reads a statement from Sydney Design Festival explaining the theme. “Design has a role to play in an ever-changing world and has the potential to solve complex global problems.”
In the past, events have included exhibitions, lectures, studio tours, walking tours and networking sessions.
Sydney Design Festival – presented by the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) – is an annual event that brings together people, ideas and activities across creative industry sectors. The 2018 festival represents the twentieth anniversary program, which will run between 2 and 11 March.
Expressions of interest for events are open practices including design studios, academic institutions, education, agencies, organisations and individuals. Submissions close 8 September 2017. More information here.
