Despite its small size, this timber mobile unit is well equipped with everything student accommodation needs, including a sleeping loft, kitchen, bathroom and an area for socialising.

Designed by Tengbom Architects for the students of Sweden’s Lund University, the ‘10 Smart Square’ dorm room provides its occupants with 107-square-feet of functional living space inside a portable shell.

Each unit is constructed entirely from lightweight timber, supplied by wood manufacturer Martisons, and can be assembled on-site in just a couple of days.

The dwellings can also be moved to different campus locations using a tow hook.

According to Tengbom, the micro-dorm rooms will be friendly to the wallets of the Swedish students, with rent expected to be half what they would pay on regular college accommodation.
