After a brief hiatus, The Other Art Fair is making its explosive return to Melbourne this summer, from 30 January to 2 February at The Timber Yard, Port Melbourne.

Renowned for shattering conventions and flipping the traditional gallery model on its head, this edition of the Fair will bring together over 100 emerging and independent artists, interactive installations and unforgettable experiences that will leave art lovers and collectors craving more.

“Principles have long served as guiding messages throughout time seeing people through countless challenges for generations. I started collecting these insights, finding motivation and clarity in their simplicity and relevance. They now play a key role in shaping my work,” says artist Francesca Laude.

“The pieces I’ll exhibit at The Other Art Fair reflect these influences. Themes of world issues, philosophy, self-reflection, and universal truths run through my paintings, which are designed to guide, inspire and encourage. More than just art, I hope they serve as reminders that solutions exist, even in difficult times.

“I look forward to sharing this collection with visitors at the fair and hope it resonates with those who stop by. If my work sparks even a small sense of hope or reflection, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do.”

Since its last appearance in Melbourne in 2022, local artists and art lovers alike have been calling for its return. Presented by Saatchi Art, the fair has always been more than just an exhibition - it’s an essential part of Melbourne's creative fabric, and this upcoming edition of the fair provides an ideal platform for

Melbourne-based artists to showcase their talents, ideas, and deep connection to the city’s rich artistic heritage.

“Emerging art fairs like The Other Art Fair have played a huge role in shaping my career and connecting me with new audiences. These platforms offer exposure to wider audiences, visibility, and the opportunity to attract new admirers and get that face to face feedback that is often missed when most of my business comes from social media,” says artist Joanna Tuoma.

“Participating in such fairs allows me to showcase my work to a diverse audience, including collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts who may not have encountered my art otherwise. This exposure is invaluable for building recognition and expanding my reach beyond instagram and word of mouth.

“Another invaluable perk that these fairs provide, is an opportunity for emerging artists to connect with each other. A lot of artists work solo from the comfort of their homes or studios and often miss the opportunity to connect with other like minded people going through the same challenges in life. From collectors to gallerists and curators, the networking opportunities are priceless.”

The latest editions of The Other Art Fair in Australia also mark a major milestone - the 100th global edition of the Fair - a remarkable achievement that highlights its growing impact on the international art scene.

"We’re thrilled to be returning to Melbourne,” says Luke Potkin, Fair Director.

“As the city continues to evolve as a cultural powerhouse known for its passion, innovation, and deep ties to the arts, The Other Art Fair is at the forefront of making art truly accessible to everyone. We can’t wait to see how the community will engage with the diverse talent as it returns to Melbourne in full swing, ready to ignite the city’s art scene with fresh energy and creativity.”

Featuring a curated selection of independent artists from Melbourne and beyond, the Fair offers an exciting mix of artistic practices including painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and digital art.

“Having participated in The Other Art Fair twice before, I can confidently say it's been such a great opportunity to connect with art-lovers and other artists in a meaningful way. Each time, I’ve found myself in such striking conversations that have opened me up to different ways of thinking and broadened my perspective on not only my art, but art in general,” says artist Nkosi Ndlovu.

“Particularly when hearing how different audiences interpret my work, I have often learnt something new or been hit with inspiration about my practice that I have taken on board. There’s something so fulfilling about seeing my work resonate with others in a way that I didn't know would be possible earlier in my career.

“Returning to the fair for the third time feels like a natural progression in my journey. It’s given me a chance to showcase how my work has evolved and how I’ve grown as an artist over the years. The Other Art Fair plays such an important role in providing a space to form connections, exchange ideas, and maybe most importantly, have art feel accessible to everyone.”

Artists like Steve Leadbeater, Katherine Gailer & Lucy Lucy and Simone Thomson will be among the standout exhibitors, each bringing their unique perspective and innovative approach to contemporary art.

"I'm excited to be finally exhibiting at The Other Art Fair Melbourne” says artist Steve Leadbeater.

“For years I've enjoyed watching artists from around the world share their craft with wider audiences - in person and online. They all seem to level up, and never look back - so inspiring! Now it's my turn."

As the fair continues to attract a diverse range of artists, many are eager to engage with Melbourne’s vibrant art scene and connect with its dynamic community.

"Art, like living organisms, thrives on movement, and The Other Art Fair is the perfect place to nurture that dynamic energy. I am excited to activate a space and connect with a vibrant community of creatives and collectors,” says upcoming exhibitor Katerine Gailer.

“This platform celebrates Melbourne's cultural diversity, and I can't wait to experience the variety of local artistic expression."
