The University of Technology, Sydney has announced the winners of the Students Design Competition 2012 which was organised by Transport for NSW.
First prize went to Dennis Schiaroli, Rachel Wan was awarded second prize and third prize went to Melinda Barbagallo.
The requirements for the competition were to investigate the question of 'architectural hybrids as an architectural manifesto and sequence connecting Wynyard train station to the future Barangaroo development sit'.
Proposals were made up of three components negotiating with specific spatial and programmatic conditions: an underground pedestrian tunnel, a complex and fictional development on Sussex Street (i.e. housing, chapel, video art gallery, golf practice, etc) and a pedestrian bridge to Barangaroo.
