Construction has begun on a 54MW wind farm in Victoria, after a final investment decision was reached at the end of June this year.
Developed by wind farm company Tilt Renewables, Salt Creek Wind Farm will be home to 15 Vestas V126-3.6MW wind turbines. The farm will have the capacity to produce roughly 172GWh of clean energy each year, enough to potentially power more than 30,000 homes.
The site of the project is located on a Merino Stud Farm near Woorndoo, around 250 kilometres west of Melbourne.
Tilt Renewables have said they will keep the local community and businesses informed about the project through initiatives such as community days, a newsletter, and the company website.
“[We’re] committed to building and maintaining strong community ties and will provide clear and ongoing information throughout the construction process to ensure the community remains well-informed,” says Robert Farron, Tilt’s chief executive.
Currently, the company manages seven winds farms across Australia and New Zealand. They have more than 2700MW of wind and solar projects in the pipeline.
Salt Creek Wind Farm is expected to be completed within the next 12 months.
