The Queensland chapter of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) has announced the winners of this year's Shoot the Architect Portrait Prize.

Both professional and amateur photographers were recognised in the awards which were judged by Spencer Howson, Breakfast Announcer, 612 ABC Radio Brisbane; John Lomas, professional portrait photographer and international photography judge and Professor Peter Skinner, immediate past Queensland Chapter President.

Roger D’Souza won the Portrait Prize in the professional category for his photo of Paul Chrismas of James Cubitt Architects.

Photographer Roger D'Souza's portrait: Architect in Nature, featuring Qld Architect Paul Chrismas.

He told A+D that he has always wanted to photograph in the pine forest setting:

"I used to drive past the pine plantation on the highway when I'd go for a surf in the morning and I just loved how the light would shine through the trees. I have always wanted to photograph someone in there and when the competition came about I immediately thought of Paul Chrismas."

The images from the competition are on display at the Queensland chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects until the end of January.
