Peter St Clair has joined architectural firm Woodhead's Sydney Studio as its new Design Director.
With over 20 years of experience in architecture and project management throughout Australia, Asia and USA, St Clair has worked for many leading international design firms on major architectural projects. Most recently, he was the Architectural Director of Health and Tertiary Education at Thomson Adsett (Sydney).
His portfolio spans the Residential, Education, Healthcare and Commercial sectors, and includes the Islands in Fremantle (WA), Ericsson Headquarters in Texas (USA) and a sports, music and drama centre for St Vincent’s Girls College in Potts Point, Sydney.
St Clair holds professional degrees in environmental design, architecture and ecologically sustainable design, and has completed advanced research in the area of climate mitigation and adaptation in association with staff of the University of New South Wales School of the Built Environment.
He has also published numerous papers on the topics of climate responsive design in university buildings, multi-unit residential trends and the micro-climate of tall buildings, topics he has presented to a variety of industry forums such as the Property Council, Tertiary Education Facility Management Forum and the Australian Institute of Architects.
Bringing with him a philosophy that each client, project and site is unique, requiring a customised approach to design and delivery, Woodhead believes that St Clair will bring to the firm a passion for creating innovative, cost effective and environmentally responsible buildings through a collaborative design process.
“Peter, as the Sydney Design Director, will work with the broader Design Directorship to foster design innovation, quality and culture across the Sydney Studio and the Group,” says Woodhead Managing Director Angelo Di Marco.
“Peter will enhance our growing Health Care, Residential, Education and Commercial portfolios, and strengthen our Sustainability initiatives.”
