Arcadia Landscape Architecture has announced the introduction of the Arcadia Melbourne team, to be led by Principal Nelson Gomes.
Arcadia welcomes Duyen Nguyen, Veronica Carrasco and Michelle Thomas Zacharias to the Arcadia family.
The growing team is working on Arcadia’s current Melbourne project work, with full support from Arcadia’s Sydney and Brisbane studios.
“We are excited to announce that Nelson has joined Arcadia Melbourne as Principal and we believe his extensive experience across all project delivery stages, working in a range of scenarios, uniquely positions him to lead our team as we work in these challenging times,” says Alex Longley, Principal of Arcadia.
“His design leadership, critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills will provide direction and for our design team working across multiple locations."'
“Nelson understands that diverse expertise is critical to the success of any project, providing leadership in multidisciplinary collaboration and coordination, to achieve the shared vision of a project.”
Bringing over 15 years of experience across a portfolio of urban design and landscape architectural projects, Nelson Gomes is drawn to the opportunities of leading this studio.
“Arcadia has a portfolio of successful and innovative projects along with a passionate team and I am excited to be leading the Melbourne Studio. I look forward to engaging with clients and collaborators to shape exceptional spaces for our communities to enjoy,” said Nelson Gomes.
Associate Duyen Nguyen will support Nelson in a leadership capacity, joining Arcadia Melbourne as an Associate.
“Duyen’s previous lead roles have given her strong understanding that change is constant in fast-paced projects and that communication is an important tool to establish the positive client and consultant relationships that are essential to an efficient, high-performing team,” says Longley.
Arcadia Melbourne has appointed Veronica Carassco as a senior landscape architect with her particular experience in design and delivery of infrastructure projects, residential developments and educational campuses.
Michelle Thomas Zacharias joins Arcadia Melbourne as a Landscape Architect. With a strong architecture background, she brings to the table knowledge of both built and unbuilt spaces and how they could be synced to foster community connections.
Michelle is the winner of the 2020 Hassell Travelling Scholarship Robin Edmund Award.
“We’re excited by the opportunities available to our Melbourne studio, with a team in place who share a strong skill-set, a diverse range of experience and that also align with Arcadia’s vision and values."
"We are keen to amplify Arcadia’s presence and capability in a city with such a strong heritage for place making and urban design, and with such potential for delivering great new spaces of all scale and complexity,’ says Mike Barnett, Principal of Arcadia.
