Dulux has announced the judging panel for the 2022 edition of its Dulux Colour Awards, the 36th year of celebrating masterful, sophisticated, and inspiring use of colour across interior and exterior commercial, public and residential spaces.
Determining the winners of each category has been entrusted with Adriana Hanna, Director of Architecture at Kennedy Nolan; Cushla McFadden, Director at Tom Mark Henry; Olivia Macfarlane, Director at Undercurrent NZ; Adam Pustola, Principal at Lyons Architecture; and David Welsh, Principal at Welsh+Major.
Dulux Colour and Communications Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr, says each Judge is an individual renowned for creating inspiring and exceptional work in the architecture, design, and creative industries.
“This year’s judging panel brings a wealth of experience and an array of valuable perspectives to the Colour Awards. With ever increasing innovation in design and new materials on the market, we expect to see some highly creative entries this year, which our judges welcome,” she says.
Jury Member Adriana Hanna is eager to see the creativity, innovation, and accomplishments from some of Australia and New Zealand’s most established and emerging architects.
“As jurors, our aim is to consider how colour contributes to the essence of each project – its expression, function, and how it contributes to the life of its occupants and community. I’m excited to see how the use of colour has been applied to this year’s submissions, looking beyond colour as merely a ‘feature’ o ‘decoration’, but rather a seamlessly integrated part of a project,” she says.
The judges will review the shortlisted entries across the following categories:
- Commercial Interior – Workplace And Retail
- Commercial Interior – Public And Hospitality
- Commercial And Multi-Residential Exterior
- Residential Interior
- Single Residential Exterior
- Student (Years 1 – 6)
In addition to receiving industry recognition, each category winner will be awarded AUD $1,000 in prize money, with winners of the Student category to receive AUD $500. All category winners, excluding the Student category and New Zealand entrants, will have the chance of taking home the Australian Grand Prix title and AUD $5,000.
New Zealand entrants will have the chance of taking home the New Zealand Grand Prix title and NZD $5,000.
The 2022 Dulux Colour Awards entries are open now, with submissions closing Monday 28 February 2022. Winners will be announced at a Gala Event held at Melbourne’s Timberyard on 1 June 2022.
