Founder and Managing Director of architecture firm HIP V. HYPE, Liam Wallis delivered one of the two keynotes at the 2024 Sustainability Summit, titled ‘Post-Occupancy Research: Closing The Gap’
Wallis, who says he’s ‘driven by a desire to use business as a tool to create a better, more resilient, prosperous world for all’, delivered the keynote at this year’s Sustainability Summit, which held in Sydney on November 14, at the Fullerton Hotel in Martin Place, Sydney.
In this keynote, HIP V. HYPE Founder Wallis discussed the benefits of post-occupancy monitoring and evaluation, sharing insights from 12 months of research at HIP V. HYPE’s award-winning Ferrars & York building, named Best of the Best in the 2023 Sustainability Awards.
HIP V. HYPE were also Highly Commended in the Hospitality & Tourism category.
“Too often neglected in the project cycle, post-occupancy research seeks to understand gaps between design intent and real-world performance,” he says.
Wallis’s keynote also attempted to answer “How can integrating post-occupancy research optimize building performance, enhance occupant experience, and improve the longevity and resilience of our buildings?
