DesignInc has announced that Cameron Martin has joined the practice as a Director, with the new practice leader to be based in Sydney.

Martin will be involved in assisting in leading the health, education, marketing and business development parts of the practice, while also working with the executive team to grow the practice and the quality of its output.

“We are delighted to welcome Cameron to the position of Director. As our organisation continues to grow, we welcome Cameron’s experience across large and complex projects, as well as his skills in research, training and mentorship,” a joint statement from DesignInc Directors Richard Does, Mary Anne McGirr, Ian Armstrong and Cathryn Drew-Bredin reads.

“Combined with his ability to develop partnerships and identify opportunities, Cameron will help us continue to build a practice where people are able to realise their personal and professional potential while fostering exceptional design.”

Martin’s previous roles include Director of Martin & Ollmann Architects and Principal at DesignInc for the past eighteen months. His three decades of built environment experience sees him excellently manage multiple stakeholders and forge dynamic relationships.

“I look forward to contributing to the growth of DesignInc, leading large projects while ensuring collaborative and consultative approach at every step,” he says.

“It sounds like a cliche, but my mission is to drive every project and every team member to design excellence. I believe this is only achieved through a solid company culture—it is the backbone of great design.”

Martin believes that a people-first approach is a cornerstone of good design.

“Workplace culture should always be number one. Architecture is more than just delivering projects: it’s how you deliver them. Fostering creativity, collaboration, diversity and inclusion is important for the culture of the organisation, and it translates into the quality of our designs.”
