Simone Carter and Sue DesBrosses have been appointed Associate Directors of interior design to lead GroupGSA’s Melbourne and Brisbane studios, respectively.
Director Lisa-Maree Carrigan says Carter and DesBrosses bolstered the firm’s collective strength and creativity to spearhead GroupGSA’s Victorian and Queensland interior design teams under a new era of growth.
“We are delighted to welcome market-leading talent into our studios,” Carrigan said. “Both women bring a wealth of experience to our interior design senior leadership team, reinforcing our sector expertise and further enhancing our commitment to diversity of thought.”
Carter has more than 25 years of interior design global experience with a portfolio spanning the UK, Middle East, China and Australia.
“I have long admired the work of GroupGSA and am very excited to now be a part of the practice’s ongoing success story,” she says.
“I was attracted to its multidisciplinary approach, the incredible support network and design innovation.”
GroupGSA employs more than 230 design experts across four studios in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Ho Chi Minh City, offering multidisciplinary design services in Living Environments; Workplace & Commercial; Education; Cities and Places; Cultural; Hospitality; Mixed-Use, Retail and Industrial; and Transport, Infrastructure & Defence.
“I am particularly looking forward to growing the Melbourne team and encouraging them to push the design boundaries, lead innovation in the industry and encourage them to approach every project through a different lens,” Carter says.
DesBrosses holds 20-plus years of commercial design experience working in large design firms. She looks forward to the opportunity to shape and grow GroupGSA’s Brisbane interiors team.
“I’ve spent the past five years working on projects in Asia so I’m looking forward to applying myself to projects within Australia and particularly focussing on Brisbane as we revitalise the city for the 2032 Olympics,” she said.
Among the suite of new hires is Alice Were, who joins GroupGSA as Senior Interior Designer in Melbourne. Clare O’Brien has been appointed Landscape Architect, based in Sydney, while Marina Amado joins the Brisbane studio as a Graduate Interior Designer.
