Carter Williamson Architects’ Ben Peake has furthered his architectural accolades following the Australian Institute of Architects 2023 National Architecture Awards, taking home the National Emerging Architect Prize.
Following on from his NSW win, Peake then progressed to the national awards program of the architectural Institute. The Emerging Architect Prize recognises an emerging architect's contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence, and community involvement, which advances the profession’s role within the public arena.
“Peake’s dedication extends beyond the firm,” the Jury’s citation reads.
“He’s been an ongoing advocate for positive change in the profession through his involvement with the Institute. His roles on the New South Wales Gender Equity Transformation Team and the National Committee for Gender Equity express his commitment to diversity. He’s also taken a lead position in the Architects Champions of Change initiative, promoting inclusivity in the profession.”
Peake has been involved in the delivery of many of Carter Williamson’s award winning projects, as well as nurturing young team members and advocating for gender and diversity equity.
"I am humbled to receive the 2023 National Emerging Architect Prize,” Peake says.
“My time in architecture so far has been an extremely rewarding and generous experience, so I would like to thank everyone who has helped me along the way, especially the whole team at Carter Williamson Architects. Together we have created a place I love going to work every day."
