The third annual Sustainability Live conference will return to The Star, Sydney on November 7 with a series of renowned panellists dissecting this year's most important industry issues.
With each talk worth one CPD point (totalling six CPD points for the day), a particular highlight will be speakers such as Philip Thalis, who is an architect, urban design leader and advocate for design excellence in architecture and the public domain.
As founding principal of Hill Thalis, he has won more than 60 awards, commendations and competitions for architecture, urban design, planning, public domain and heritage projects.
Thalis will bring a unique perspective on issues associated with apartment buildings in his panel
As an architect, Thalis has been involved in the design of over 80 projects, containing over 2000 apartments, many for builder developers. On Design Review Panels, Thalis has reviewed well over multi-unit 1 000 DA’s, while through work in developing Master Plans and DCP for Councils & Public Clients (CSPC), Hill Thalis has created the capacity for 1000’s of dwellings.
As a councillor and member of the CSPC, Thalis has been involved in approving dozens of major projects, and as a community representative, he has represented residents’ views on development proposals.
Philip Thalis, the original Barangaroo designer will be speaking on Apartment Building ‘Crisis’ And Where To Now For Our Building Sector, which will kick off at 11.15am.
This panel will look at dodgy cladding to excessive cracking and the underlying defects in the management and quality control of Australia's construction system. While state and federal governments have vowed to respond, the industry needs to know where to go from here and how can architects ensure they are not burdened with the mistakes of others when it comes to new tower designs and builds?
Sustainability Live 2019 will be held from 8.15am - 4.30pm on November 7 at The Star in Sydney. Click here for more information or to buy tickets.
