Studio Nine Architects has appointed acclaimed architect Benjamin Pitman to the role of Senior Associate, with the Adelaide native furthering his work in his home city.
Pitman holds two decades of experience in the built environment, working across the eastern seaboard at the likes of Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCBA), BVN and SJB Architects. His expertise lies across all major sectors, as well as practice growth, overseeing JCBA’s evolution from 5 to 100 employees and becoming the practice’s first Associate in the process.
Pitman moved back to Adelaide after his time as an Associate Director at JCBA, working on small-scale projects for private clients. Ready to step back into a collaborative environment, Pitman was excited by S9’s all-encompassing architectural approach.
“After meeting the practice’s leadership group, joining S9 seemed like a natural fit both personally and for my career,” he says.
“I shared their vision for the direction of the practice and felt I could be a useful contributor to the journey.”
S9 regards Pitman’s level-headed, methodical and well-considered approach to critical thinking as key to his work and the subsequent output of the practice across a multitude of sectors. Pitman says he is particularly excited to nurture the next generation of designers within the walls of Studio Nine.
