Landscape architecture and urban design firm Oculus has announced that Jack Qian has joined the practice as an Associate Director, bolstering the practice’s leadership team and Asia Pacific expertise.
With 15 years of international landscape architecture and urban design experience, Qian has led multi-disciplinary design practices in Australia and China, namely at Arcadia, where he was a Principal of the firm’s Melbourne outpost.
Qian is regarded for his ability to deliver high-quality, successful design outcomes with a heightened sense of place. His portfolio features an array of city-shaping projects, including large-scale urban renewal and environmental regeneration projects that celebrate and enhance communities, cultures, and ecologies.
Qian says he looks forward to operating out of the practice’s Sydney studio and working alongside Oculus clients, collaborators, and team members in Melbourne and Canberra.
“I’m very pleased to be returning to my hometown of Sydney and joining an esteemed group of like-minded people at OCULUS,” Qian says
“This year marks a grand milestone of 30 years since the practice’s establishment, and I look forward to continuing the journey with our local and international collaborators.”
Oculus says it is delighted to add Qian to its established Australian leadership team alongside fellow Associate Directors Claire Martin, Keith Stead, and Roger Jasprizza and Director Bob Earl. The practice says the appointment will allow for new perspectives and grow its collective capacity to produce first-rate public spaces.
