AJC Architects has announced the appointment of two new Studio Directors, with Kelly Green (left) and John Gunnell (right) to craft the design and delivery of the practice’s future endeavours.
The studio believes that both Green and Gunnell will play key roles in maintaining its outstanding services to clients and fostering nationwide excellence.
Joining as Studio Lead in 2022, Green holds over two decades of built environment experience in both Australia and the United Kingdom, where she worked on a number of cultural, university, and social housing projects from design and capacity studies to project delivery.
AJC regards Kelly as a pivotal player in leading and winning design competitions for multiple projects across AJC’s multi-residential and cultural domains.
“I’m thrilled with this appointment. Kelly has developed excellent relationships with clients and project partners, built a great team and transformed her domain at AJC through her keen design intelligence and a pragmatic consensus-driven approach to achieving project objectives,” says Brian Mariotti, AJC Director.
John Gunnell’s local and international experience expands across the residential, commercial, public/education sports and leisure sectors. Recent projects overseen by the architect include the acclaimed Milson Island Indoor Stadium, Abbotsleigh Multipurpose Hall and Sports Field, and the John Phillips Library and Kingswood Campus in Western Sydney.
Currently, Gunnell is involved in the master planning, design, and construction of multiple commercial, multi-residential, and community facilities for a new town centre in close proximity to the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
‘A Renaissance architect, who understands the entire design and delivery process, and has been the hand behind some of AJC‘s most successful projects,” AJC CEO Michael Heenan says.
“The reliance on John’s deep and intimate knowledge of how buildings go together and how this informs the whole design process has been a backbone of the quality of AJC.”
