THE challenge
A lightweight, easy-to- install insulation material that could be delivered within a very tight time- frame was required for the roof and wall insulation at the new National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. The architects required insulation that would be eco-friendly and make a positive overall contribution to the environment.
The solution
To meet the necessary thermal, spatial requirements and environmental requirements of the project, lightweight RMAX VH and H-Grade Isolite cut sheets were chosen by the contractor as the preferred material for the roof and wall insulation respectively.
The energy used in the manufacture of EPS is recovered within six months through savings in heating and cooling needs, and it continues to provide energy savings without deterioration in its performance over the full life of the building.
