Timber has long been central to the town of Myrtleford, Victoria. With some locals working in the old sawmill since the 70’s, a healthy timber industry has been important.
The transformation of the existing mill into a ‘world-class’ plywood mill is big news for Myrtleford and the Australian timber industry.
The new mill ensures that production of the increasingly popular Carter Holt Harvey plywood products is efficient and reduces the demand for off-shore supply. This project was supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry under its Forest Industries Development Fund program, as well as the Victorian Government. It’s an investment in the future of the timber industry.
The mill will be ‘purely ply’ and the biggest plywood producer in Australia.
Featuring state of the art equipment that is more efficient, the drying processes will provide an improved plywood product of consistent specifications. Overall there will be an increased supply to the market in the long term.
Sustainable and truly cutting edge technology.
